Mr. Gene Taylor “TEDDY” Holloman II, 36 Boiling Spring Lakes, died Wednesday, February 03, 2010 after a sudden illness at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Teddy was born May 28, 1973 and is survived by his father, Mr. Gene Taylor (Head) Holloman I, step-mother, Cindy Lynn Holloman, Aunt, Terry Lee Holloman Descaro, all of Southport, NC; Uncle, Ronnie Harrison, of Bolivia, NC, a brother, Billy Woodring, of Maryland; a sister Jill Davis, of Wilmington, NC, cousins, Angela Coring, Tina Holloman, Christina Descaro, and April Holloman; as well as a host of other family and many close friends.

Teddy was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank N. & Mary Virginia Cooker Harrison, and great-grandmother Ruth Varnum Cooker Watts all of Southport. Teddy had a very special love for his grandparents who lovingly assisted in raising him and nurturing him through his youth.

At a very young age, Teddy was baptized at the First Apostolic Church in Southport, NC. He joined the Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Department, in 1993 serving his community for 11 years, rising in the ranks to the position of Assistant Chief. Teddy’s love for the fire service was unwavering, his dedication as a volunteer fire fighter lead him to serve the Southport Fire Department for the past 3 years. He was a great part of the Southport Fire Prevention Team and Clown Troop, assisting in educating the public about the dangers of fire, and promoting fire prevention through his character as “HI – LO the HOBO” the Fire Safety Clown. HI – LO would always leave a smile on your face, as well as an important fire safety tip in your mind. Teddy’s dedication will always be remembered.

Teddy was also an active member of the Brunswick County Republican Party, and loved the political arena. In 2009 he ran for the office of Boiling Spring Lakes Commissioner, and received much support from his community.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 08, 2010 at the Southport Community Building, 223 East Bay Street Southport, NC at 6pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Full Fire Fighter rites will be performed at the service. Rev. Charles A Drew & Capt. Todd Coring will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Southport Fire Prevention Team, 201 East Moore Street, Southport, NC 28461.
