George Edward Edwards


George E. Edwards, 68 of Wilmington passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

He was born in Wilmington on October 27, 1943 and raised in the community of Seagate. His parents were the late Henry Warren Edwards and Amanda Ruth Edwards Harker. He was preceded in death by a brother Charlie Edwards, and two sisters, Minnie Faircloth and Margaret Butler.

George was retired from Wilmington Coca Cola with 33 years of service in sales. He was a member and Past Master of St. Johns Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M., he was a 33 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Woodruff Edwards; one daughter, Cheryl E. Pearce (Rick), and one son, George Scott Edwards (Lisa); six grandchildren, Patrick Barnes, Emily Barnes, Meghan Barnes, Matthew Pearce, Katherine Edwards, and Nathan Edwards; two great grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Edwards, and four sisters; Mary Tart, Doris Long, Ellen Futrell, and Jackie Ward.

The family will see friends from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington where a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 2 PM. Masonic Funeral Rites will be accorded by St. Johns Lodge #1 A.F.&A.M.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice or any Masonic charity.

    I am very sorry for your loss. I have a lot of good memories of Mr. Edwards when I got to fish with him and Scott at Crystal Pier back in the 80's. He will be dearly missed by all who got to know him. My prayers are with your family.
