George G. Hinson, Jr

George G. Hinson, Jr., 66, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

George was born in Columbus County on November 19, 1951 and had lived in Wilmington for several years. He had been employed as a long distance truck driver and had worked at F. W. Groves and Ploof Trucking for many years and later for Coastal Trucking until his retirement. He was known on the road by his CB handle “Carolina Rebel” . George was a Mason for many years and was a member of the Orient Lodge # 395 where he held the position of Tyler and had received the “Tyler of Distinction” award.

He was predeceased by his parents, George G. Hinson Sr. and Dixie Hewett Hinson, and his brother, Troy Lynn Hinson. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Brown and her husband Morris and Clara Dennis and her husband Mike. He also leaves a very special niece, Natalie Nicole Merck.

His family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. . Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dodd Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Masonic services.
