George Landry of Alexander Place, Wilmington, NC, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Landry was born in Brookline, MA, to the late Leo Landry and Marie Benoit Landry. He proudly served for twenty years in the US Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sgt. which included three tours in Viet Nam. He also retired from the New Hanover Sheriff’s Department where he served 26 years.

In addition to his parents,George is also predeceased by a son, Steven Landry, and a brother, Paul Landry.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Della Landry, of the home; one son, James Landry, and wife, Betty, of Fishers IN; two daughters, Wanda Monks, of Anchorage, AK, and Christine Holt, of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Josephine Connors, of Newton Highlands MA, and Louise Coull, of Natick, MA; six grandchildren, Shara Lynn Stewart, Stephanie Sargent, Brandon Monks, Ryan Landry, Victoria Holt, and Collin Holt, and four great grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service with honors by the New Hanover Sheriff’s Department at 6 PM, Wednesday, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services with military honors will be 12 PM, Saturday, at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
