Georgette Bahouth, age 82, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully in her home Monday April 14, 2014.

She was born on January 31, 1932 in Beirut, Lebanon to the late Michel and Suzanne Salloum. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Shafiq Bahouth and brother, Nicola Salloum.

Georgette was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother who cherished time spent with grandchildren, cooking, sewing, and gardening. She was a seamstress throughout her life and owned a number of alteration shops in the Wilmington area. She is especially remembered for her authentic Lebanese cooking and her culinary expertise has influenced generations. To this day, her recipes are carried out with love by her son, Edwin at Sahara Restaurant.

Surviving are her sons, Fadi Bahouth and partner Debbie of Jameston, NC, Edwin Bahouth and wife Candy, and daughter Nancy Spirakis; son-in-law Pete Spirakis of Wilmington, NC. Also surviving are brother Zaki Salloum of Lebanon, grandchildren Courtney, Loren, Tony, Kristian, and Andrew; great grandson Elijah; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Thanks to her White Oak family where she spent many joyful years. Special thanks to Amy Brooks, Doris Clifton, Pam Jones and her dear friend and longtime caregiver Joye (Fatmeh) Brown.

A memorial service will be held 4 PM Wednesday April 16, 2014 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation.
