Mr. Gerald Nathan Branch Sr, 79 of Wilmington, NC went to be with our Lord on Sunday December 6th.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 3:00PM till 5:00PM, at Wilmington funeral Chapel.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents James Robert Branch Sr and Sadie Carney Branch, brothers Bobby and Kenneth Branch, sisters Lib Smith and Jennie Lee Thompson.

Gerald is survived by wife Gladys Croom Branch which was married 58 years, daughter Cheryl Branch, Son Nathan his wife Angie, Son Larry Duane, fiancé Kay Shafor, Granddaughters Melissa fink, Jennifer and husband Caleb Fanning, Great Grandchildren Chance, Zackery, Emma and Mason. Several nieces and nephews, brother-in law John Charles Croom and John Wood Jr.

Gerald proudly served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis on the U.S.S. Truckee (AO-147). Gerald was a long time Volunteer Fireman of Winter Park Fire Department which led him to be a Sworn in Deputy during that time. Gerald was a very dedicated man of all things he took part in, whether it be his job or helping a friend. He began his 33 year career with W.R. Grace Chemical Plant missing only 3 days of work through those years. During these years he was chosen to oversee a Chemical Plant being built in Trinidad which put him away from home months at a time. His family has always been so proud of him and always will be. Gerald absolutely Loved Fishing and Hunting.

A huge Thank You to all first responders whom took part in doing everything possible to revive Gerald on this Sunday morning he went to be with our Lord.

A Graveside funeral will be conducted on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 1:00PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, in Wilmington, NC.

    Gerald was truly the definition of a Southern Gentleman and I always looked up to him with the utmost respect. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him and I shall cherish all of my memories of him and the Branch family in my younger days growing up in the old neighborhood.
