Gerald Stephen “ Steve “ Wilson, age 55 of Wilmington, passed away April 30, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Wilson was born in Oxford, NC to the late James Willie Wilson Jr. and Laverne Hoover Garrett.

He served our country in the US Army. His passion was auto sales having been in the business for over 30 years and recently working for Stevenson Automotive Group in Wilmington. He was a member of Cape Fear Freewill Baptist church.

He is survived by a brother, J. Michael Wilson and wife Pam of Raleigh; a sister, Cynthia Wilson Winborn and husband David of Wake Forrest; a niece, Jennifer Wilson and nephew, Carl Wilson and wife Stacia.

A Memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday at the Cape Fear Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Hall officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cape Fear Freewill Baptist Church, 5350 Holly Tree Rd. Wilmington, NC.28409.

    So many memories from the mid-70's to mid-80's, many I can't remember or I am better off not to say:-) From those teen rebellious years through my mid 20's hard to not remember an adventure that does not include Steve, would make a great movie and you'd be the star. Wish I would have gotten to see you more in the late years as we both grew older and wiser. I am sure when you walk through those gates in heaven you were selling something my friend. R.I.P. Steve.

    Stevie was one of my best friends in my youth and I carry many great memories of our time in Stovall. He was truly one of a kind. My thoughts are with Mike and Cynthia as I am sure you will miss him greatly.

    So very sorry to have just learned of Stevie's passing. I have many wonderful memories of Stevie during our high school years. The Junior Prom is definitely one of those.
