Gertrude “Trudy” Corbitt Semaske, age 92, of Wilmington, formerly of Louisburg, NC, died on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
She was born on February 9, 1921 in Springfield, South Carolina to the late Quitman Corbitt and Allie Salley Corbitt. She was a devoted member of the Catholic church. She loved golf, bridge, and gardening as well as rescuing animals. Trudy was a proud graduate of Winthrop College, graduating with a Commerce Degree.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Eugene Arthur Semaske; brothers, Jake and Lanier Corbitt, and sisters, Louise Truett and Iris Gleaton.
Trudy is survived by her daughter Julie Cox and husband Tommy and son, Thomas William Lochte and wife Rhonda Whitley Lochte, all of Wilmington; and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. She also leaves behind her companion, Allie.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will be receiving friends from 1:30- 2 p.m. before the service. Julie and Tommy Cox welcome friends to their home immediately following the service.
A memorial mass will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Louisburg, NC.
