Gladys Croom Branch

Memorial Gifts & Donations

Ms. Gladys Croom Branch, was born on February 22, 1941 to the late Pearlie and Margaret Croom, in Bladen county, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on August 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, completing her journey of 80 years.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from the hours of 5:00PM till 7:00PM, at the Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Chapel.

Gladys was a very Godly woman who deeply loved her Lord, which was instilled into her children, grandchildren, and family, including many strangers. Gladys was one of many auxiliary wives who took great pride in supporting all of the men involved, preparing food to help keep their strength strong. Our mama Gladys was also a volunteer auxiliary woman at NHRMC for 14 years, doing her part to help people. Gladys was an extremely patriotic person that loved our military, America, and our American flag. She would not hesitate to stand up and defend. Gladys was a person that enjoyed life and all that went along with it. I must say she was a true Fire-Bug. That was always one of her happiest places to be, sitting and poking and talking around a friendly little fire. Honestly, family, friends, and people in general who knew Gladys or only spoke for the first time were enlighted by an actual princess.

Knowing my mama, she would have me say to each of you how much she loves you and that you will forever be in her heart. To anyone reading this, the importance of you accepting our Lord Jesus Christ into your heart will prepare you for Heaven.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Pearlie Croom, and sister Brenda Croom. Her husband of 58 years, Gerald N. Branch Sr. Gladys, is survived by her children Cheryl Branch, son Nathan, his wife Angie, son Duane, his fiance Catherine Shafor, brother John Charles Croom. Grandchildren Melissa Fink, Jennifer, and husband, Caleb Fanning. Great-grandchildren Chance, Zackery, Emma, and Mason. Several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on 11:00AM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Arnold Griffin officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

    Patty Kinston says:
I wanted to share my deep condolences with the family during this difficult time. I know it’s hard to accept that someone we all loved has passed away. I will truly miss my dear friend. She was a jewel and will always be in my heart along with your Dad. I will cherish all of the sweet memories we had..sitting on the porch talking, long conversations on the phone, visiting her in the hospital and our favorite…eating lunch at the Olive Garden which we thoroughly enjoyed. Rest In Peace my friend. I will close with this quote by Mitch Albom, “Life has to end. Love doesn’t.” Please let me know if there’s anything I can do. May God bless you and I’m sorry for your loss.
