Gladys Britt Stephens, 80, a resident of Burgaw, formerly of Archdale, passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2015.
She was born on October 8, 1934 in Robeson County, NC to the late Raymond and Fairy Willoughby Britt. She moved to the High Point/ Archdale area in 1964, and retired from Alderman Studios, after 20 years of service. In 1992, she moved to Wilmington to manage her son’s business, R&R Auto Repair, and relocated to Burgaw in 2005. She was a member of Rocky Point Baptist Church in Rocky Point. Gladys enjoyed house work and she liked to keep things in a neat and orderly fashion. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was a son, Gilbert Stephens; her brothers, Stanley, Ed, and Preston Britt and her sisters, Eloise Brunch and Ruth Britt.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Stephens of the home; her children, Ricky Stephens of Wilmington, and Melinda McCracken and her husband Alan of Burgaw. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amy Rivenbark of Wilmington, and Michael Stephens of Thomasville; her great grandchildren, Michael Stephens, Jr., Joshua Stephens, Brittany and Michael Rivenbark.
A service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held Wednesday, January 28th, at 11 o’clock from the graveside in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, with Pastor Micky Easterling and Deacon Jim Hardin officiating.
