Glendal L. Jenkins 84, of Wilmington, NC died Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Novant/New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born in Craven County, NC on December 4, 1937, the son of the late Henry and Letha Hardy Jenkins. He was a retired Chemistry educator in the public schools in Prince George’s County, Maryland retiring after 25 years. He was an avid historian for Atkinson/Pender County and a preservationist, having restored 46 homes in Washington, DC, and Wilmington. Preceding him in death are sisters Frances Johnson and Christine Phillips; brothers Charlie Jenkins; William Jenkins; Lemuel Jenkins and Frank Jenkins; nephew Anthony Phillips and niece Betsy J. Wilson.

Surviving are his partner of 38 years Michael Moore; niece Gloria Price and husband Steve; Anne Metts and husband Carlton; Letha J. Benton; Kathy Harrell and husband Kenneth; Lydia Rouse and husband Fella; Judy Harrison and husband Freddie; Wanda Pollock and husband Hugh; Donna Vilagi and husband Jeff; nephews Charles Jenkins and wife Gay; Robert Jenkins and Ray Jenkins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Saturday, December  11, 2021, at St. Jude’s MCC.

The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Judes MCC building fund 19 N. 26th Street, Wilmington, NC 28405 in memory of Glendal Jenkins.

    Glenn was certainly one of the smartest people I have ever met.We enjoyed his talks about the different places in our town so much.Always a gentleman and friendly to every one.He will be remembered here!!I always liked him very much and considered him a good friend!! So sorry for our loss!!
