Glenn B. Hewett, 72, passed away on October 31, 2021, after a brief illness.

Born in Wilmington, NC on August 29, 1949, he was the son of Ralph Rodney Hewett and Alma Estelle (Richardson) Hewett. He grew up in Timmonsville, SC and currently resided in Wilmington, NC.

Glenn was employed for 20 years by various Mac Truck Distributorships having worked in Florence, SC, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Valdosta, GA and his favorite Wilmington, NC. He then became a Mac Tools Distributor, retiring after 20 years. He served in the National Guard as an MP, attended Wrightsboro Baptist Church and was a member of the Oak Island Masonic Lodge.

Glenn is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Myra Young Hewett, he is also survived by his sons: Mark Hewett and Scott Hewett both of Wilmington, NC; brother, Rodney Hewett of Wilmington, NC and sister, Linda Hill (Richard) of Weaversville, NC.

He was loved and will be remembered by his aunts, many nieces, nephews, and several dear friends. Also, surviving is his beloved dog, Sampson.

Glenn loved boat riding, fishing, NASCAR and being with friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Hewett, mother, Estelle Grooms and stepfather, Roy Grooms; brothers, Jeffrey Hewett, Sammy Hewett and his sister, Judy Ozuna.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2:00 PM, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior. (Please note that this is the day for Daylight Savings Time, so clocks need to be set back one hour. “Fall back”.) Pastor Jim Newkirt will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
