Memorial Gifts & Donations

Gloria Estelle Sellers, 84, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Gloria was born to the late Hubert E. Bohannon and Mary Estelle Bohannon on September 27, 1939.
Marriage and motherhood created a full and contented life for Gloria and she was lovingly devoted to both. For over six decades she was married to her one true love, Al Sellers.
During those years they created a beautiful family together. Welcoming four children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren into their rare and inspiring love story.
Gloria’s life as a young army wife offered many opportunities for world travel and interesting cultural experiences.
Following their military years, her husband began a longstanding career in Radio News Broadcasting. A career that enriched Gloria’s life greatly through the many friendships forged while calling cities such as Nashville, Houston, and Chicago home.
Years later, upon returning to her hometown of Wilmington, Gloria became an active and well respected member of several community organizations.
The essence of Gloria was as original and pure as the perfect shade of colors seen in a morning sunrise. She was friendly and welcoming to everyone she met. Her creative talents flowed through the strings of an acoustic guitar, keys of a piano, and stroke of a paintbrush.  She was an original thinker who many have said was ahead of her time. Her spirit was free, her soul kind, and her eyes smiling.
Gloria is survived by her son, Steven Sellers, daughters Dawn Gurganus (Ron), and Alysyn Balentine. Grandchildren Stephanie Dyer (Alex), Jillian Clay (Zach), Perry Balentine, Sydney Sellers, Ian Sellers (Catherine), Westley Sellers, Emma Sellers and Ashley White.  Great-grandchildren Laurel, Nicholas, Addie, Sutton, and Peyton. Sisters, Sylvia Harker (Bobby) and Sonjia Lewis (Don), brother Hubert Bohannon (Martha) and many other extended family members and lifelong friends who love her and will miss her deeply.
As her aforementioned parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Al Sellers, son Mark Sellers, son in-law Warren Balentine, grandson Reid Balentine, daughter in-law Carolyn Sellers, sister Linda Hernandez, and brother Ricky Bohannon.
Her family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the care and compassion Gloria received over the years from her caregivers of the following organizations: Elderhaus of Wilmington, Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove, and Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
A celebration of Life is planned for late Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
