Mr. Keifer was born in Warren, PA to Gerald and Dorothy Keifer. He grew up in Jamestown, NY. He graduated from Clarkson College with a BS in Civil Engineering.
He is predeceased by his wife Delores and survived by three children: Pam Windley (David), Amy Streich (Jon), and Sally Murray (Rodney) and grandchildren Leah Windley, Matthew Streich, Allyson Murray, and Jennifer Murray.
He was a veteran of the US Army. He moved to Wilmington where he had a career in prestressed concrete.
Mr. Keifer enjoyed travelling both in the United State and Europe. He was passionate about music. He sang in church choirs for over fifty years. He was a member of a band, playing recorder and dulcimers which he made himself, performing at schools, craft fairs, retirement homes, and local events.
Mr. Keifer was an active volunteer, serving in his church and his community. He was especially committed to Kairos Prison Ministry and ministries that serve the hungry.
A service celebrating his life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmingon, NC on Friday February 23 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Kairos Prison Ministries c/o Don Neff 1054 Birchwood Lane – Jacksonville, NC 28546 or the Music Ministry at St. Paul’s Epsicopal Church – 16 North Sixteenth Street – Wilmington, NC 28401.
