Grady Bennett Cox, age 89 , of Castle Hayne, passed away on Tuesday March 17, 2015 at his home in the warm embrace of his family.

Grady was born September 29, 1925 in Fayetteville, NC, a son of Alexander Josef Cox and Alice Virginia Norton Cox.

For forty years Grady worked, starting as a line man and working his way up to the supervising crews all across the south from the mountains to the coast installing and maintaining the power lines. Enjoying life all the way, whether riding a Harley across the United States or finding a new recipe to experiment with. He had many stories to share, which will be greatly missed.

Surviving is his daughter, Belinda Keith and husband Andy; son, Michael Cox of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Tiffany Keith, Michael Uriah Cox and wife Ashley; and great grandchildren, Eliana, Jackson and Carter.

A special thank you to Dr. Gebrail and his staff for their caring and kindness, his extended family, Patsy, Harold, Terry, Earl, C.W., Art and family for all the support and love shown to daddy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Asheboro, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

    i only met my great uncle grandy a few times in my life. My grandfather ervin cox uncle grandies brother passed away when i was a young boy. I do remember coming to nc n visiting family but never remembered meeting uncle grandy untill i was a young man. The times i did hang out with uncle grandy were a blast though. He always made me laugh n told me awesome stories about my grandfather. You will be truely missed but will always have a place in our hearts. Tell my grandfather i miss him and i will see you guys when the time is rite. With great love and respect the mitchell family.
