Gregory Monroe “Peck” Hyatt, 49, of Ivanhoe, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home.

Born in Wilmington on June 17, 1963, he was the son of Helen L. Gore of Wilmington and Franklin Monroe Hyatt, stepmother Bessie of Carolina Beach

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are siblings Teresa Hyatt Stiles of Wilmington, Franklin Dean Hyatt (Cindy) of Aurora, IN, Babs Hyatt Sobota (Robb) of Carolina Beach, Sharon Lynn (Robbie) of Wilmington, Terry Beavers (Brent) of Wilmington; many very special nieces, nephews, and numerous loved cousins. He often would tell his family and friends, “God loves you…and so do I”. Greg was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, animals, the ocean and his garden.

He attended Pine Valley Church of God. A memorial service will be 6 pm, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Pine Valley Church of God with Reverends J.D. Simmons and Doug Faulk, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; 3131 RDU Center Drive, Suite 100; Morrisville, NC 27560 or to the American Cancer Society; 2202 Wrightsville Avenue, Suite 111; Wilmington, NC 28403.

    So sorry to hear about Greg. Even tho I did not know him. I do know what you are going through. I just went through it with Heather and,its not going to be easy, but the lord has a way to make it easier. I just wanted to say I'am so sorry your going through this pain.     Our family can't tell you how sorrowful we are. Our hearts are broken. Greg was much more than a friend he was a huge part of our family. All of us were lucky enough to have shared many aday looking at life threw Gregs sweet eyes and loving heart. To know Greg was to love Greg. Let's all raise our mason jars and give a toast to one of the greatest persons we will have ever had the honor of sharing our lives with. Can't tell you enough how much we loved you Greg!!!!
