January 22, 1942 – October 31, 2022

Guy Strickland, age 80 of Leland, NC, passed peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare In Bolivia, NC on October 31, 2022. Guy was born on January 22, 1942 to the late Beamon and Ruby Strickland in Cerro Gordo, NC.

Guy is survived by his wife of 56 years Marie Lewis Strickland of Leland; his son Tim Strickland and his wife Kimberly of Wilmington, NC; son Aaron Strickland of Leland, NC; daughter Karen Thrift and husband David of Winnabow, NC.

He is survived by seven grandchildren; Kristopher Strickland and wife Bethany; Stacy Andrews and husband Derek; Mackenzie Ryan Thrift; Veronica Strickland; Lillian Thrift; Annie Strickland; Finn Strickland. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Rylynne Lane Strickland.

He is survived by his sister Martha King and husband Andrew of Wilmington, NC; sister Alice Osbourne of Fayetteville, NC; his brother Jerry Strickland and wife Gaby of Missouri and brother Eddie Strickland of Loris, SC. He was preceded in death by his brother John Strickland and sister Grace Smith.

Guy served 18 months in the US Army where he was a radio operator at Fort Dix. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Wilmington, NC where he was hired as the accountant/bookkeeper/office manager for Machine and Welding Supply Company, where he remained for 42 years.

As of this time, to honor Guy’s wishes, the family will not be having any memorial services. We simply ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that if you would like to make any type of donation, please do so in Guy’s name to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Bolivia, NC.

    Love thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Strickland family. Uncle Guy was a wonderful Christian man who loved his family dearly. Always positive and upbeat and never short of jokes. I was always super excited to go visit you guys from a child to a full grown woman. Pee Wee, Timmy, Aaron, and Karen.. I love you all you’re very special to me.. we can all take comfort in knowing that God is with the Lord doing what makes him happy.. I’m sure in heaven they don’t need batteries so Uncle Guy can shine the light Forever!! Gonna miss him!!!! 💔🙏

    Prayers for Marie and family during this time of loss. I remember Mr. Guy when he played the organ at the Leland Church of God. He was a kind person with a joyful spirit. I didn't know him during his last years of sufferings, but he is now in Heaven where he suffers no more.
