Memorial Gifts & Donations

Harold Glenn Nunnery, age 62, of Watha, NC departed this life on June 11, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born in Smithfield, NC to the late Rev. Troy C. and Frances Cashwell Nunnery he moved with his family to Wilmington when he was four years old. When he first breathed deeply of the coastal air, forever after, the sea became his first love.

Blessed with a photographic memory, there was virtually nothing Glenn could not do when he was determined to accomplish it. Having completed an Electrical Systems program at Cape Fear Community College, he worked at both Dupont and Carver Yachts. He was a self-employed fisherman for many years. His strong work ethic led him to Camp Lejeune to assist with several construction projects. For the last twenty years, prior to his health failing, he was the owner and operator of Mowmaster Lawn Services.

The consummate outdoorsman, Glenn was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed duck hunting with Todd Lawson, his friend of 45 years. His canine companions of choice were labrador retrievers who accompanied him on his hunting expeditions. His other passion was the ocean. Many days and nights were spent on the Atlantic or the Inland Waterway.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, April Monroe (Doug) of Rocky Point, NC and his sister, Carol Nunnery of Greenwood, SC. He also leaves a treasured aunt, Judy King and much loved uncles, Greg Nunnery and Kenneth Nunnery. His host of Cashwell and Nunnery cousins remember him for his love of and singing gospel music as a child and young teenager.

In compliance with his wishes his remains will be scattered over the Atlantic. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1:00PM, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Those who embody the truest of Nature cannot be bound by the weakness of their earthly bodies.

Fly free, Glenn, fly free.
