Harriet passed away on Saturday May 20, 2023 at her home in Wilmington, NC.

She was born in Salisbury, NC on December 19, 1964 to Helen McGee Gordon of Salisbury, NC . She is  preceded in death by her father, Samuel Gordon also a  cousin, Judy (Ron) Fesperman.

Harriet was a 1983 graduate of Salisbury High School and a 1990 graduate of UNCW with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Education. At the time of her passing she was employed by New Hanover County Department of Social Services.

Harriet was a loving wife and daughter. She was loved and respected by everyone she came to know. Harriet was of the Lutheran faith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, of 25 years, Stephen Goad, her mother, Helen Gordon; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Johnny Webb, cousins, Jim (Barbara) McGee, Donnie (Debbie) McGee, Johnny Webb, Ron (Kathy) Webb, Carol (Jimmy) Freeze and many friends.

A celebration of Harriet’s life will be held at a later date.

    Stephen, words cannot express my sorrow at hearing of Harriet’s passing. I pray that you are doing alright and that God is giving you what you need to get through this. I wish I had known she wasn’t well. I would have made an effort to have someone bring me to see her. Harriet is one of the nicest, most loving people I’ve met in my life. I’ve often wished I hadn’t left Wilmington. May God bless you and her family. Love, Peggy

    Harriet was the kindest soul. She was always there for me when I needed her and was so thankful I had the chance to have her in my life. She was my work mom and kept me in line. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. My prayers go out to Stephen and family at their time of grief and mourning. Just know she is a ray of sunshine shining on us all and she is reunited with her Thor.

    I didn’t know Harriet for a long time, but the short time I have known her, she has been nothing but pure sweet, and humble. Every conversation we have had will be cherished. Just to see her smiling face every morning coming through the door was a blessing. She will surely be missed. Rest in peace dear heart.
