Mrs. Helen E. Sell passed away peacefully at Silver Stream Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington on Monday morning, July 12, 2010.

She was born in Iva, S.C. to Ernest and Hattie Gray. After her marriage to Jack C. Aley they moved to Fayetteville, N.C. She was predeceased in death by Mr. Aley and later by Mr. Wayne M. Nelson and Mr. William Paul Sell of Concord, N.C.

Mrs. Sell was an active member of Epworth Methodist Church in Concord, N.C. and taught Sunday school for many years. She also volunteered her time and baking skills to the church’s weekly fund raisers.

In August of 2003 she moved to Wilmington and resided at The Kempton of Brightmore.

Surviving are her son Carl Aley and wife Laura of Wilmington, her daughter Gayle Aley Bennett and husband Tommy of North Myrtle Beach; grandsons Forde Aley and wife Sherry of Phoenix, AZ., Austin Aley and wife Christy of Wilmington, N.C., and granddaughters Leigh Aley Holmes and husband Lee of Apex, N.C., Lisa Bennett of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Jan Bennett Sizemore and husband Mark of Fort Mill, S.C., and Kim Bennett of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and eight great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.

The family would like to thank the caretakers at The Commons of Brightmore and The Silver Stream Rehabilitation Center for their kind and wonderful care.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held in the chapel of The First Baptist Church of Wilmington on Market Street on Thursday July 15 at 11:00 a.m. Dr Frank Hawkins officiating. Interment will be in Concord, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401 or the charity of your choice.
