Helen Elizabeth Sterr Nick, 76, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.
Helen was born to the late Gottlob and Emily Sterr on April 30, 1936 in the City of New York. Helen graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1953. She married Robert Herman Nick on February 7, 1959. They lived in New York before moving to Wilmington in 2005.
Helen was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. She was in the Order of the Eastern Star of the New York chapter. Helen loved spending time with her friends going bowling, golfing, and playing mahjong.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her sons: David Nick (Tina) of Cumming, GA and Ernest Nick of Chelan, WA. She is also survived by two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 3 pm Thursday at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Reverend Joel Kettner and Pastor Timothy Steele officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family if requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society; 2202 Wrightsville Ave, Suite 111; Wilmington, NC 28403.
