Helen Jeffers Lewis
Helen Jeffers Lewis, of Leland, NC, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.
She was born in Kyser, WV, on November 8, 1927, the daughter of the late Mark and Julia (Crist) Jeffers and was the widow of Rev. William Herman Lewis. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy and his wife Kay Lewis, and three brothers Benton, Donald, and Dick Jeffers
Mrs. Lewis was a member of Elah Baptist Church, which was a major part of her life, the Pilot Club of Wilmington, and the Leland Senior Citizen Club. She retired from the Brunswick County School System, as an Administrative Assistant for North Brunswick High School.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan and husband Rev. John Sellars of Bolivia, Cheryl and husband Ray Simmons of Rocky Point, and Beth Lewis of Leland, four grandchildren, Julia Sellars, Kimberly Horton, Natalie Lewis, and Abby Lewis, a great grandchild, Tristan Horton, also two brothers Mark and Paul Jeffers and a sister Jean Voytko.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Elah Baptist Church, Leland, with Rev. Jack Miller and Steve Byrd.
Interment will be at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, near Clarkton, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Village Road Memorial Chapel.
