Helen Malpass Phelps, 87, departed this life on May 19, 2023 at the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center. Helen was born on August 22, 1935 to Alexander Malpass Sr and Berta Blanton Malpass. She had one brother Alex Malpass Jr. Helen married Charles Lee Phelps on Sept. 8 1956. They had one son, Michael Wayne Phelps.
Helen’s home was in Youngsville NC but she spent the last year at North Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation where the staff became friends as they provided care for complications from a broken hip and congestive heart failure.
Helen was preceded in death by all her immediate family members. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 26 at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
