Henry Dotterer Willard, Jr. passed away December 20, 2019, while in Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Services will be held in Black River Presbyterian Church, Ivanhoe, NC. After this, a celebration of life will take place at the home of Chip and Leigh Ann’s in Ivanhoe. Join us there.
Henry was born on October 26, 1937, son of the late Henry D. Willard and Blanche Orr DuBose Willard of Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1956, then attended The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Henry’s lifetime occupation was in the oil and gas industries.
Henry is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years, Priscilla Brown Willard, two daughters: Harriett Willard Watson and husband William Harold Watson “Rusty” and children, Krysten, Jesse, and Alysha all of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, and Elizabeth Schirmer Willard Dailey and husband John Henry Dailey, Jr. of Wilmington NC and one son, Henry D. Willard, III (Chip) wife Leigh Anna of Ivanhoe, NC and one precious granddaughter, Kenton Elizabeth Willard; a brother Theodore (Bo) Willard (Jackie) and a sister, Blanche Willard Quinn (Mike) of Columbia SC; six nieces and five nephews.
Henry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting, always with friends. He never met a stranger, had an outgoing personality and loved everyone. His quick wit and ever-present personality always left one with a smile.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive Wilmington NC 28403 or Liberty Commons, 221 Racine Drive Wilmington NC 28403.
Memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Black River Presbyterian Church officiated by Certified Life Celebrant Linda Register.
