Howard David Koenig, 78 of Wilmington, went to his great reward on August 3, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his entire family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Blanche, sister Frances, brothers and first wife Mary Elizabeth McMahon Koenig.

Howard is survived by his wife of 33 years Rita M. Koenig and grandson Tyler of the home, children Trish Koenig, Michael Nave, John Koenig, Angela Szakasits and Christina Wood, grandchildren Chad, Tristan, Megan, Sarah, Tyler, Caroline, Mandy, Billy, Natalie, Riley and soon to be granddaughter.

He was a Korean War veteran of the US Army, published author, owner of a local Wilmington business named Kids on Computers, and he went through life asking to speak to “the manager”.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM, Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Mark Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 215, c/o St. Mark Catholic Church.

    I knew Howard through the Boy Scout Troop 215. We were on the troop committee together. He was a quiet man, so when he had something to say, I listened intently. He was a good man, and he will be missed.
