Hubert Young Simerson went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2015.
He was born in Churchland, NC on March 4, 1924 to the late Sidney and Nannie Elizabeth Young Simerson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Emilie Gordon Springle Simerson; two daughters, Linda Marie Simerson of Raleigh, NC and Andrea Caroline Simerson Estep of Newark, Delaware.
Bert was an active member of Ogletown Baptist Church of Newark, Delaware for many years and an active member of First Baptist Church, Leland, NC for seven years.
He was the Volunteer Missions Coordinator for Delaware/Maryland Southern Baptist Convention. Bert and his wife Emilie went on volunteer mission trips to many countries including Rwanda, Burundi, Belize, Scotland, Mexico, prayer walking in Paris, Moldova, and Spain. Bert was in the choir at Ogletown Baptist Church, was interim choir director, and served on the deacon board.

Emilie organized the church food pantry, sang in the choir, and was on the dinner crew for the Wednesday night activities at Ogletown Baptist Church.
They are survived by son, Gordon Ray Simerson and wife Artemis and their children, Gabriel and Darian Simerson of Connecticut; daughter, Patricia Elizabeth Simerson of Leland, NC; brothers, Robert Marian Springle and wife Barbara of Wilmington, NC and James Richard Springle and wife Connie of Southport, NC; grandchildren, Joy Estep, Erin Estep Linderman, Talia Estep Romasco of Newark Delaware and six great grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service for Bert and his wife Emilie at the Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Bert and Emilie are interred in Montlawn Cemetery in Raleigh, NC.
