Jacquelyn Ann Norris, age 81 of Wilmington passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013.

She was born in Wilmington, NC on September 21, 1932. Her parents were the late Alonzo W. Norris and Katie Taylor Norris.

Jackie grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Meredith College and received her Master’s Degree from Tulane University. She had a 42 year career with North Carolina State Government. She served as an administrative assistant for former Governor Luther Hodges when he served as Director of the Department of Agriculture and later served as Assistant Chief at the NC Dept. of Human Resources, Division of Facility Services/Health Care Facilities Branch until her retirement. Jackie loved to travel including trips to Europe, Costa Rica, and many other locations.

Jackie is survived by her loving family including her grand-daughter, Kimberly Sue Wyatt and husband Roger; great grandchildren, Kristen, Tynker, Beckett, and Harper Wyatt; special cousins, Benton Grier White, Jr. (Judy), Syvaughn White Clemmons (Paul), and Brenda Taylor Middleton (Pete); special friend Dr. Tish Blount Bratton (Charlie); and her loving cat “Kymmie”.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.

    I am so sorry that Jackie died. She was a wonderful person and I will be forever grateful for her kindness and friendship. She was special, influential and impressive. She was the best person I ever knew and the best friend. She had a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. I am so grateful for the memories and I will miss her dearly.
