James Adam Lahren


James Adam Lahren, of Holden Beach died at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2008 following a valiant fight against metastatic cancer.

He was the beloved husband of MaryLou, and son of the late William and Mathilda Lahren. He is survived by four children, James Adam Lahren, Jr., LeeAnn Lahren, Linda Moskowitz and Tricia Lahren; eight grandchildren, Julia Lahren, Matthew Lahren, Ella Grace Waytena, Callen Waytena, John Patrick Hutchison, Ryan Hutchison, Kevin Hutchison, and David Stone and sister Betty Brumfield.

He was predeceased by two sons, David and Theodore and daughter Stacey.

Dr. Lahren earned his doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Buffalo and had been a faculty member of the State University of New York for twenty seven years, 12 of which he was Professor, Vocational Technical Education at the SUNY College at Buffalo. For an adjunct career he joined the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines as an Education Specialist where his experience included project work in 19 countries. Dr. Lahren’s most recent assignment was with DHV Consultants, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 9:00am Friday, August 29, 2008 at St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church, 5101 Ocean Highway W. in Shallotte.
