James Allan Soutar, Sr. age 72 of Hampstead, NC and formerly of Wurtsboro, NY passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.

Jim was born on July 17, 1940 in Rockland County, NY, to the late Alexander Soutar and Ruth Thiell Soutar.

Jim retired to Hampstead seven years ago from New York state where he owned and operated a successful roofing and siding business. He enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, golf, working outdoors and taking care of animals in need.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Antonia “Toni” Soutar; his children, James Soutar, Jr. of NY, Lori Anne Soutar of Hampstead, NC, and Dean Soutar (Patricia) of NY; grandchildren, James III, Erica, and their mother Lori Tomer Soutar, Alexandra, and Dean; a great grand-daughter, Carly; a sister, Judith Willkomm (John) of SC; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held 4 PM Saturday, July 13 at the Harbor Village Yacht Club in the Olde Point Community, Hampstead, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401 or any local animal shelter.
