James Allyn Smith

James Allyn Smith, age 86, of Hampstead passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter. He was born February 19, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late James O. Smith and Eleanor Brunner Smith.

James worked for General Electric in Cleveland, Ohio and retired after a 38 year career. He was a member of Ogden Baptist Church and volunteered at the Hampstead Senior Center for nine years. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid golfer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn DeBolt Smith; son, Brian Smith and wife Cindy of Allen Texas; daughters, Debbie Smith of Huntsville, Texas and Sally Chepla and husband William of Wilmington, NC; sister, Jane Cornish of Wellington, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was strong in his faith and loved dearly by his family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 6, 2015 at Ogden Baptist Church, 7121 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28411.

Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
