James A. (Jim) Kosicki, Age 83 of Wilmington, passed away on December 23, 2014, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

He was born in Newport News, VA. on July 19, 1931, a son of William Andrew Kosicki and Marion Farnham.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Kosicki; his children Michael Kosicki, Robert Kosicki, Mark Kosicki, Channing Persinger and Theresa Elder and nine grandchildren.

Jim spent four years in the United States Air Force and 36 years with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic controller, Supervisor and Manager. After retirement he drove a school bus for several years. His passion beyond work was sailing. He and his wife Phyllis spent many wonderful days and weeks sailing much of the east coast and Virgin Islands.

A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Wrightsville United Methodist Church, 4 Live Oak Dr. Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation 1414 Physicians Dr. Wilmington, NC 28401 or a charity of your choice.

    Jim and I were first cousins. Over the years, I lost touch with him. However, my sister visited Jim and Phyllis from time to time. He followed my Dad in the aviation industry and had a very interesting life. My thoughts and prayers go to Phyllis and all his children and grandchildren.

    Jim and I were hired as Air Traffic Controllers in 1955 and worked together for a number of years. He was always a big factor in my life and I will miss him greatly. Joan and I send our condolences to Phyllis and family.
