James “Jim” Edward DeVaun, 84, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Zelma and Clina DeVaun on September 21, 1937, in Granville County, NC. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Sams) DeVaun.

Survivors include: his daughters, Sherri Bradley (Rich) and Suzanne Shearer (David); son, Jeff DeVaun (Kady); three grandchildren: Brendon and Joshua Shearer and Emily DeVaun.

From the age of 9 to 82 years, Jim worked tirelessly to support his family. He took pride in his craftsmanship. His love and devotion to his family knew no limits. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, 1:30 PM, at the Wilmington Chapel, 1535 S. 41st Street Wilmington, NC. A visitation will be held at 12:30 PM, just prior to the funeral service. Burial at Oakdale Cemetery to follow immediately after the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
