James Frederick Harrell, 84, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Born in Wilmington on February 20, 1929, he was a son of the late James M. “Matt” and Annie Moore Harrell. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked in aircraft maintenance.

Surviving, are a son, Michael Harrell (Shirley) of Wilmington; two daughters, Audrey Harrell of Wilmington, Linda Ellis (Ray) of Bolton; two step-sons, Ronald Puckett (Diane), Dargon Puckett (Diane); a step-daughter, Barbara Halterman, Diann McLean (Charles) all of Kentucky; two brothers, Charles Harrell (Linda) of Wilmington, Buddy Harrell (Nina) of Leland; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Catherine H. Harrell; and a sister, Launa Sikes.

A memorial service, with Military Honors, will be 1 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Wrightsville Avenue Church of God with Bishop Marvin Gwinn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
