James (Jay) Hopkins Farlow Jr. of Wilmington, NC, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 38. Jay is survived by his parents James and Paula Farlow, his sister Jamie Mayo and husband Ace, all of Wrightsville Beach, his sister Lydia Meadows and husband Travis of Wilmington, and sister Redding Soderberg and husband Tom of Myrtle Beach, as well as five nieces and nephews whose faces lit up on his arrival.
Upon graduation from John T. Hoggard High School, Jay attended Appalachian State University in Boone. He was known for his welcoming smile, which would light up a room. Jay had a huge love for music, always singing or humming his new favorite tune. His creative talents included violinist, guitarist, singer, dancer, actor, and he could really jam on the harmonica.
Family and friends will gather at Wrightsville Beach Park amphitheater on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 6:30 PM to celebrate Jay’s life with music and remembrance. Bring a chair or a blanket, and of course, a smile.
