James Howard Stanley, Sr. age 73, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Kannapolis, NC, on December 11, 1945, the son of Hurbert Duprie Stanley and Edith Lucinda Lindsay Stanley.
Howard was a member of the Una Free Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. Many Carolina Beach residents knew and loved him. He helped so many, just the mention of his name would bring a smile to their face. Howard was the owner and driver of a Taxi Business that served the Carolina Beach area for over 15 years. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Howard is survived by his wife Wanda; son James Howard Stanley, Jr. of Carolina Beach, NC and daughter Joyce Kimberley Stanley of Providence, RI.; grandchildren Taylor Stanley, Marley Stanley, Bryanna Stanley, Mitchell Medeiros, Arnie Butler, Jamie Peck, Heidi Ward, Sheena Ward and Chad McDowell. He is also survived by his sister Thelma Stanley of Spartanburg, SC. and his brothers David Stanley of Spartanburg, SC and Albert Stanley of Spartanburg, SC.
Together with his parents Howard was predeceased by his daughter Denise Stanley; brothers Robert Stanley and Dan Smith of GA and sister Shirley Rankin of NC.
A Service to Celebrate Howard’s life is being planned and will be announced.
