James “Jim” (J.B.) Bullard

“Death comes like the birth of a baby, when it’s time. Birth, death, sleep and healing, each comes in its own time. Whatever comes, we can trust that we are in the hands of a God who loves us”.

Jim (J.B.) Bullard of Castle Hayne went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13th after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Columbus County November 14, 1943 and preceded in death by his parents Claude and Minnie Bullard. He was a member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Alice, his two sons Terry (wife Ashley), Chuck (wife Colleen), and four grandchildren, Van, Caleb, Noah and Shannon.

Jim will be missed by his family, and his many friends. He loved his Lord and Savior and lived his life with trust and faith through all the many years of ill health. He never gave up hope of being healed and he was finally healed, at the feet of Jesus.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurse, Lower Cape Fear Hospice staff, especially Shawn Johnson, for the kind and loving care he received. Also the nurses and technicians of DaVita dialysis center in Burgaw for the loving care they gave him over the past four years of dialysis treatment. And lastly the family would like to thank the Wrightsboro Baptist Church family for their devotion and support over his years of declining health.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday January 16, 2012 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church located at 2736 Castle Hayne Road. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Hollar and Rev. Mike Lewis.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the Wrightsboro Baptist Church Building Fund, 2736 Castle Hayne Rd., Wilmington, NC 28401 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

    Barbara and Ken Blackwelder says:
We learned of Jim's home going with mixed emotions, sad to miss his inspiration to others by the life he lived, glad he is now healed and enjoying the race he won. Alice, you were instrumental in the love and care you gave Jim and again, an inspiration to all who knew you.

Alice, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May you take comfort in the following: "Death hides but does not divide; Thou art but on Christ’s other side. Thou art with Christ; He is with me – So living in Christ, I am still close to thee."

God had you and Jim in his hands even then when you made the decision to be by his side. I'm so glad that you all had time together although shorter I know that you wanted. We have a truly loving God and my prayer is for comfort and peace for you and your family now. I love you and please know that if you need anything, call me. Patricia
