James Leanier “Jimmy” Bullard, Jr. age 60 a lifelong resident of the Riegelwood Community passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 8, 2022 at his home.

He was born in Whiteville, NC on September 1, 1961, to the late James Leanier Bullard, Sr. and Martha Hammond Bullard, and also preceded in death by sister, Cindy Peoples.

“Jimmy B” was a professional heavy equipment operator and worked for Funston Company where he specialized in digging retention ponds. He really loved his job and operating the heavy equipment and digging the ponds. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and always enjoyed making everyone laugh. He loved his gun collection and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends taking target practice.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Smith Bullard; three children, Laura Malpass and husband Marshall of Atkinson, Jeremy Bullard and wife Morgan of Leland, and Mary Ann Davis and husband Frankie of Jacksonville, Illinois; two step-sons, Joseph and Steven Sullivan; grandchildren, Hailey Malpass, Reagan Bullard, Cameron Bullard, Peyton Bullard, and Addi Bullard, and Savanna and Christopher DeBruhl, and step grandson, A.J. Sullivan; brother, Gary Bullard.

Visitation for family and friend will be 7-9 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Graveside Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the Rogers-Bullard Cemetery on Water Tank Road, Delco, NC. His pallbearers will be Steven Sullivan, Jonathan Sullivan, Michael Wise, Bubba Clary, Jonathan Bullard, and Chris Bozeman.
