James Nelms Carr passed away Monday, February 19, 2024. He was 39 years old. Jim was loved and admired by family and friends. He was born in Monterey, California, raised in Virginia, and eventually settled in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Jim was a man of wry humor and deep talent. He was a gifted artist at heart, sculpting, carving, creating, and building everything from boats to guitars to jewelry. He loved nature and had an extraordinary eye for spotting, watching, and understanding wildlife of all kinds. He was happiest on the beach with his German Shephard, Rooster.

Jim was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Simon Whitaker (Si) and Margaret Faulconer (Peggy) Nelms.

He is survived by his parents, Nevin Palmer (Jr) and Ann Cary Carr; siblings Nevin Palmer (III) and Madeline (Fisher) Carr, Adam Judson and Miranda (Lay) Carr, and Elizabeth Cary Carr and Phillip Owsley; nephews Nevin Palmer Carr, IV, Caleb Fisher Carr; nieces Chloe Ruth Carr, Leah Joy Carr, and Holland Cary Owsley; grandparents, Nevin Palmer and Alison Sandlass Carr; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
