Gy Sgt. J. R. Malloch, Sr. Ret.
James Rowland Malloch, Sr passed into eternal life December 16, 2008. Born in Charlotte, NC on February 28, 1927 the son of the late Lacy S. Malloch and Columbia Rowland Malloch.
Jim enlisted in the US Marine Corps at 14 years of age November 1941 and was in active duty in WWII, Pacific Islands on his 15th birthday. He fought in the Korean War at Inchion Landing and Chosin Resv. Also the Vietnam War. He retired after 22 years active and 7 years reserve, and was a member of the Veteran underage military service. He served with communication for Apollo XI Flight and retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Charlotte.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved first wife June Lavin.
He is survived by his loving wife Inez McGrew Malloch, daughter Caroline, sons Jimmy, Jr (Virl), Thomas (Syndnor) and Michael, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, step children Dell (Carolyn), Odette (John), Rosette(Danny), William (Lisa) , six step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren also a very special dog Semper Fi.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service. Jim will be interred 11:00 AM January 7, 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery.
Many thanks to the staff and employees of Mariner Health for their care and devotion to Jim and family. Also Jim’s loyal CNA Barbara Johnson who help care for him for years.
