James Robert Weaver Jr., 55, of Wilmington, NC, died at 4:30am Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter of Wilmington after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born November 18th, 1957 in Macon, Georgia to the late James and Florence Weaver. He married Candace Sullivan Weaver on October 2, 2003 and she survives.

Also surviving are his son James Robert Groome; stepson Cory Steven Groome; both of Wilmington; brother, Mark Cameron Weaver of Southern Pines; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest brother Bob Tanner Weaver.

James, known as Jim, was a long time resident of Raeford, North Carolina, traveled extensively, and settled in Wilmington, North Carolina where he met and married his wife Candace.

Jim studied at the Pinehurst Culinary School, and became a master chef with a career that lasted 25 years. He began a new career, most recently with Rite-aid pharmacy. Jim was an accomplished guitar player, an avid reader of all genres, and was an obsessive football fan, especially of the Oregon Ducks. In recent years, he was actively involved in Full Circle Ministries. Jim had an infectious quirky sense of humor and always had a smile on his face for anyone who needed it. He was loved by family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist church on South College Road Monday August 12th from 2:00- 3:00pm, with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm. The Reverend Judy Jeremias and Pastor Tom Dean will be officiating. An inurnment is scheduled at Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the service.

Candace, you were always there for me & during the loss of my husband. For that and your friendship I am so grateful. You are one that gives & gives.
