James Robert Day

James “Jim” Day passed away on June 8, 2020. He will be missed by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched. Jim was formally from Torrington, CT and spent his high school and early adult years in Guilderland, New York. He later moved to the Manchester NH area establishing his career and family roots.

Jim was the son of the late Robert and Frances Day of Torrington CT. He leaves behind his wife Rachel Day and daughter Crystal Carruth. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Day and leaves behind his cherished sister Sandra Day Burgoyne and her husband Barry Burgoyne. Saddened by this loss are his nieces and nephews, Amy Burgoyne Arrellano and husband David, Christopher Burgoyne, Catherine Carruth, and Bryant Carruth, He also leaves several great nieces and nephews who gave him so much joy.

He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Jim filled his life with adventures and loved to tell tales of over the road trucking. He spent his career behind the wheel of a truck or courier van. He loved the independence it gave him. After his marriage to Rachel he worked closer to home so he wouldn’t miss a thing that Crystal and Rachel had in store. He was a lifetime fisherman and in later years played golf as often as possible. He cherished his 10+ years working with the West High School band and teaching the drummers all he knew. His passion was also 10+ years of volunteering for Special Olympics in New Hampshire and being a proud father of the athlete Crystal had become. The people involved with the Special Olympics were like family and he gave so much of himself. Forever a Bobcat!

Jim chose to be cremated and his interment will be held later when proper arrangements can be made. A Go Fund Me Account has been set up for anyone who would like to contribute to creating a memorial in the gardens of Elderhaus. Please follow the link below if you wish to share in this joy .
