James William Coleman Sr., known affectionately as JC or Jimmy was born on June 11, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. He peacefully passed away on February 20, 2024 at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina. Jimmy lived a full life of 73 years.

Throughout his career, Jimmy dedicated 36 years of service as a Locomotive Engineer with CSX Rail Road. His work ethic and commitment were truly commendable. He was a proud veteran of the US Coast Guard serving on the USCGC McCulloch which was stationed in Wilmington.

Outside of work, Jimmy enjoyed playing softball as a talented pitcher on various teams & playing pool with his many friends. He was also a member of the Wilmington Moose Club, where he found camaraderie and community.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. Coleman Sr and Juanita Hanke Coleman, as well as his brothers, Paul (Jerri) and Charles “Cliffy” Jr. (Shirley) Coleman.

He is survived by his loving wife Penny Watkins House Coleman, his children Charles Coleman (Jesse), James W. Coleman Jr (Jenna), Dawn Smith (Danny), Rynee Robinson (Wayne Sr), Richard House (Trevlyn), his sister Judy Forrest (Allen), along with his grandchildren James III, Addison, Billy, Alex, Amy, Daniel, Megan, Victoria, Ricky, Kendall, Kiley, Schayla, Bryan, Riahonn, Garyelle, Wayne Jr, and Zell. A numerous amount of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, & his special puppy, JC “Pudding Butt”.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Jimmy will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Wilmington Moose Lodge located at 4610 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.

May Jimmy’s memory be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
