Dorothy Jane Montford, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Wilmington on August 15, 1939 to Albie A. Johnson and Euphilia Highsmith Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert Johnson, and Lenox Johnson and sister, Annette McHenry. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Trina Jane Murphy.

She was a lifelong resident of Wilmington and was a member of Rileys Creek Baptist Church in Rocky Point. Jane was a talented floral designer and had worked for many florist in Wilmington before her retirement. She and her husband George were well known in the area as Mr.& Mrs. Santa Clause, they delighted and entertained many children of all ages for many years, most recently at Mike’s Farm near Beulaville.

Jane is survived by her husband George C. Montford, III; three sons Clifton Montford and wife Jeannie, Baron Montford and David Montford. Grandchildren Wayne Brown, Brandt Kaczynski, Lindsay Fort, Jeffrey Montford, Georganna Collins and Brandon Montford and step grandchildren April Faulk and Adam Jones; and twelve great grandchildren.

A memorial Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2 pm Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Rileys Creek Baptist Church in Rocky Point, NC, officiated by Rev. James D. Herchenhan.
