Jeffrey Dale Williams, Sr.
Jeff Williams, 69, of Wilmington, died Thursday morning September 2, 2010 after a year-long battle with cancer. Jeff was surrounded by his family as he passed.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held at Southside Baptist Church at 3320 South College Rd Saturday September 4, 2010 at 2PM. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
Jeff was born in Wilmington on August 14, 1941. He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1959 and attended UNCW. Jeff was retired from UTI (formerly Wilmington Shipping Company/Southern Overseas). His career took him from the shipyards working on the docks to the position of Vice-President. Jeff was well-known and respected within his industry. Jeff was very involved with the annual Roman Gabriel /Mac Williams Celebrity Golf Tournament for Multiple Sclerosis and enjoyed helping his classmates through the generosity of those who played and attended.
Jeff had a big and loving family and leaves behind his wife Margaret Ann Williams, 5 children, Donna Bradley of Wilmington, Jeffrey Williams and wife Donna of Charlotte, Kent Williams and wife Randi of Charlotte, Connie Lackovic of Thomasville and Ricky Williams and wife Jennifer of Wilmington. Jeff also had 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children who adored their “granddaddy and papa”.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Helen Williams and brother Mac Williams. He is survived by his brothers Dewey Williams and Raymond Williams, Mac’s wife Pat Williams, uncle Lonnie Williams and aunt/uncle Margaret and Bob Sellers.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401.
