Jenice (Jen) Ann Gordon, 80, of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Born on April 20, 1939 in Johnstown, PA she was the elder of two daughters of the late John Carl Galbreath and Edith Ann (Sharpe) Galbreath. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bernard Jack Gordon, and cousin, Thomas Theodore Carson.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Lynn Thomas Gordon, daughter-in-law, Andrea; granddaughter, Aaliyah; sister, Mary Lou Kueffer; niece, Lora Timmons and husband Jeff Timmons; grand nieces, Alyssa and Amanda Amarando; nephew, Christopher John Davis and wife, Susan and loving friend, Donald Jackson.

Jen graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers College in central Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland with her husband in the late 1960’s to begin her career as a dedicated teacher. Her enthusiasm for education showed in the many success stories she shared in bringing difficult classroom situations to a happy resolution. She loved her school children and shared in the childish delight as they conquered learning challenges. Jen and her husband retired to Wilmington to be near their son Jon when he was discharged from the Marines at Camp Lejeune.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 11th with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 41st Street, Wilmington, NC. Burial is scheduled at 1 PM at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, 17750 US Highway 17 Hampstead, Pender County, North Carolina, 28443.

    Miss Jen was a beautiful woman. I loved listening to her stories and having coffee together. She loved her son, Jon, to no end. I will never be able to hear that whistle or Andy Griffiths voice and not think of her! My heart goes out to Jon and Don and all the family!
