Jeremiah D. Donovan, age 91, of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Lake Shore Commons.

He was born December 5, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late John Donovan and Catherine M. Donovan. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Eris Jane Donovan and sister, Mary “Mickey” Kelly.

He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He retired from a successful 40 year career as manager with Sears Roebuck & Company.

Surviving are his son, John C. Donovan and wife Susan of NC; daughter, Polly Jane Tunick and husband Jeffrey Tunick of FL; Brother, John Donovan (Virginia) of FL; sister, Sister Catherine Donovan of MA; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Joseph Donovan (Amanda), Katherine Giacalone (Anthony), John Campbell Donovan; two great grandchildren, Owen Joseph Donovan and Anthony John Giacalone; and other loving family.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA.

    We are truly saddened by the loss of a tremendous brother ,brother-in-law and by unanimous agreement our favorite uncle, Jerry Donovan. He was truly a great person and an inspiration to all of us. We have many fond memories of him, especially when he visited us over the years. It was the best of times to see him and his brother John together! The world is a better place for his presence here and he will be very much missed.     John, Polly and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing, as I was to hear of Eris' passing. Uncle Jerry was such a kind, patient, loving, and generous man. I have so many fond memories of him and times spent together during summers at Hull. He loved me and provided stability when our family was going through hard emotional times. I loved his accent and how he called me "Robit". A special memory was when he "drove" me to Logan airport in his boat! Just the two of us. I love him and will miss him. He was a very special man and the most loving uncle I ever had. Bob
