Jerry Joseph ( Joe ) Benson, 57,of Carolina Beach, NC, passed away at home, Tuesday, March 10th, 2009, when his body succumbed to cancer. He was loved by his wife and best friend, Jana; his sons, Wesley and Jay; his mother, Geraldine Nobles; his sister, Brenda; his brothers, Bobby (Phyllis), Jimmy (Lynn), and Ricky; nieces, Sherrie, Sarah, Courtney and Lyndsay; nephew Trae; and grandsons, Cameron and Parker.

In addition to his family and friends, Joe loved the water. Great days were lived surfing, boating, skiing and fishing. Joe was an original “Beach Kid”. He also loved to build things, including his family’s home. And, you know he loved his dogs.

Joe was a board member of Pleasure Island Dixie Youth Baseball & Softball for many years. He also coached and umpired because he loved the game and the kids.
