Jerry Lee Cooper 87, of Wilmington, NC died Sunday February 26, 2023 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare.

Jerry was born in Barbour County, WV on September 19, 1935 to the late Rex Denver Cooper and Ethel Pearl Phillips Cooper. After graduating from High School he was the recipient of a Basketball scholarship at UVA in Charlottesville, VA where he received his Bachelor’s Degree, then went on to serve his country  faithfully in the US Army. While in college he met his wife of 66 years Suzanne Wilson Harris. He retired after 35 years at Dupont.

Surviving are his wife  Suzanne H. Cooper son Jeff Cooper and wife Shelia; daughters Kim Melton and husband Bimbo and Sandra Bass and husband Joel. Four grandchildren Eli, Haden, Brenna and Cooper; and a great-grandson Banks.

No service formal service will be held at this time.

    Jerry was just super. He was my next-door neighbor, and I will miss him dearly. And he did so much for Parsley Woods. I used to start up a chain saw just to see him run out to see what I was doing. God bless you Jerry.

    Jerry and I crossed paths many times working for DuPont. He had the reputation as a hard-nosed boss who demanded excellence. I can honesty say he was unequivocally the best boss I ever had. He was demanding, but fair and always had your back. Rest in peace - Friend.
