He attended college at the University of Maryland where he received a BS in Accounting. After living in Maryland, Jerry returned to Raleigh. He also lived in Hopkinton, MA, Boynton Beach, FL, and Sarasota, FL for a short time.

Jerry is predeceased by his parents and is survived by one son, David Bryant Joyner (Norma), two granddaughters, Alexandria and Sophia, of Raleigh; brother Robert Dale (Betsy) and nephew Patrick of Haw River, NC; niece, Amy Buchanan (Bruce) and great nephew Jackson of Greensboro, NC; nephew Ryan (Koni) and great niece Katrina of Springdale, AK; sister Donna Blue Joyner of Raleigh, NC; brother James Bryant “Buddy” Joyner, Jr. (Belinda), nephew Jarrad and great niece McKenna and great nephew Kolton, nephew Gregory of Wilmington, NC.

Jerry was intensely proud of his two granddaughters and they will forever remember special birthday trips to Pullen Park to play with their Grandpa.

What sad news to hear today. Donna and David I sure you recall that I worked with Jerry for 15 years. He was my Boss and my friend. He taught me so much. After we no longer worked together I was able to take his training and land a good job. Retired now, but Thank You "Skipper". Love you and RIP.
