Jimmie Ray Jennings

Jimmie Ray Jennings, 92, of Hampstead died Wednesday March 8, 2023 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Jim was born in Deer Creek, Texas on January 9, 1931, the son of the late Shelby Jennings and Vada Ester Pace Jennings. He spent his career working for the U.S. Postal Service after serving his country faithfully in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean War. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead. During his spare time, he and his wife, Phyllis, loved to bowl at Cardinal Lanes. He is preceded in death by his first wife Minnie Fay Moses Jennings in 1991 and his son Gary Ray Jennings in 2021.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Phyllis Secondo Jennings, his daughters Wendy Stout and Barbara Deguzis, sons Richard Jennings, Edward Deguzis and wife Meg. Also surviving are grandchildren Layla Jennings and her husband Eli, Jocilyn, Michael, Christopher, Christian, Jean, Ryan, Taylor and Andrew; fifteen great-grandchildren Maverick, Luke, Eli, Serenity, Isabella, Zahria, Violet, Camren, Ian, Gavin, Jack, James, Asher, Lucas and Paisley.

Services 12:00 Noon Thursday March 16,2023 at All Saints Catholic Church 18737 HWY 17, Hampstead, NC. He will be buried in his family plot in Henrietta, Texas.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to one’s favorite charity in Jim’s memory.
